Executive Board

Samer Sweidan, President & Head of Global Market Strategy

Samer is currently a 3^rd year commerce student at Degroote specializing in finance and minoring in economics. Samer is the founder of Mac Global and has taken an active part in the clubs structuring since the idea’s inception. For the upcoming school year, Samer plans to bridge the McMaster community to professionals in the financial industry by structuring and coordinating the Mac Global Professionals in Finance Speaker Series.   Samer also brings extensive capital markets experience, having held 2 Investment Banking Summer Analyst positions during his first summer and a Private Equity Summer Analyst position for part of the last summer.  During his internships,  Samer focused on investment valuation, analysis, and deal structuring. Moreover, Samer successfully passed the Canadian Investment Funds Course in 2009, permitting him to deal in mutual funds. Samer is more than excited to make this a memorable year for members of Mac Global.

Tim Maksadov, CFO & Head of Technical Analysis

Tim is currently a 4th year commerce student at Degroote specializing in finance and minoring in economics. Tim is also the other primary founder of Mac Global and has taken an active part in the clubs structuring since the ideas inception. Tim plans to make this year a highly beneficial one for members, especially those interested in learning more about Technical Analysis.  For the past summer, Tim worked as a commodities trader and market analyst, managing $200k at Corporation Monlyth, one of Russia’s premier trading houses. His average monthly trading returns amounted to 20% during the 4-month period.  Tim will be managing a 300k trading account for Corporation Monlyth during the school year, as he plans to return and become a full time trader there upon graduation.

Jason Woo, EVP & Head of Fundamental Analysis

Jason is currently a 4th year commerce student at Degroote specializing in finance and minoring in economics. Jason is also Executive Vice President, head of Educational Initiatives and a co founder of Mac Global. Jason’s goal for the year is to create and manage a dynamic educational program that benefits members interested in advancing their career skills.  For the past summer, Jason was a Sales & Trading Analyst at Societe Generale’s Investment Banking division in Seoul, South Korea. There, he worked on the Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities Structured Products Trading Desk. Jason has also successfully passed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC). He is also writing the CFA level I exam in December of 2011. Moreover, Jason has been actively involved in the DeGroote community through various roles as Vice-President Internal and 2nd year rep for the DeGroote  Finance Association and as a senior associate for MAC Investment Club.

Ali Wadood, Honorary Member, Co-founder, and Special Advisor to the President

Ali Wadood is a recent graduate with Distinction with a major in Finance/accounting and a minor in Economics. During his four years at McMaster, Ali was heavily involved in the McMaster Community by being a corporate finance teaching assistant, VP operations at DeGroote Finance Association, and by representing the commerce faculty on the Student Representative Assembly. In addition, Ali also chaired the Finance committee this past year and was a member of numerous committees over the past four years including; the External affair committee, Clubs committee, Teaching Awards committee and the Bookstore committee. Outside of the of McMaster, Ali interned in accounting for a summer and as a Summer Analyst.  After graduating, Ali will be taking a full time position in investment banking. Ali hopes to see Mac Global become the premier investment club in Canada and will continue to advise the President on organizational affairs.

Matt Rusiecki, CMO

Matt is entering his fourth year of studies in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program, taking classes in Finance and Marketing. Matt has always had a passion for marketing, including the psychology and philosophy behind it. His diverse job experience has greatly increased his communication skills, allowing him to effectively tailor a message to different groups of people. Matt hopes to penetrate the McMaster community to foster the vision of a commerce club that is transparent to the entire campus. He believes the key to this is illustrating the importance of applicable financial knowledge, information that any student can greatly benefit from. Matt is looking forward to a long and interesting year of guest speakers and motivated students with Mac Global.

Public Relations & Operations

Imad Ghani, VP, External Relations

Imad is currently a 3rd year commerce student at Degroote specializing in Accounting.  He is also Head of Accounting & Public Relations at Mac Global.  Imad’s goal for the club is to help students develop into professionals by exposing them to skills that are required in the professional world but are not taught in the classroom and providing them with an opportunity to network with professionals through the Mac Global Professionals in Finance Speaker Series.  His career goals for this year include attaining coaching and mentoring experience as a Teaching Assistant, and attaining an Audit Internship for the summer of 2012 en route to attaining a CA designation.  Imad has two years of experience in the accounting field.  This past summer, however, he was working as a Summer Student at Dale & Lessmann Canadian Legal Counsel in Toronto.  Furthermore, Imad has been extensively involved in the McMaster community.  Last year he was Sponsorship Director at McMaster Islamic Relief Canada (MIRC).  In their first year of existence, MIRC raised approximately $125,000 for poverty and disaster relief in Pakistan, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and Japan.  This year he will contribute as Director of External PR.  He is also an active member of the Muslim Students Association and the DeGroote Accounting Association.

Terri Taiyab, VP, Internal Relations

Terri is a 3rd year Commerce student at Degroote, specializing in Accounting and aiming for a CA designation. Terri aims to make this year a very beneficial one for Mac Global members and the club. Terri aims to raise awareness of the club and to promote educational and social events run by the club. Terri has held several marketing positions for reputable company’s like Boston Pizza. Most recently, Terri worked for World Vision, traveling around Canada and promoting awareness and attaining sponsorships for numerous charitable causes.

Oyindoye Egbuson,VP,Operations

Oyindoye Egbuson is currently a 4th year commerce student specializing in finance with a minor in economics. Due to his insatiable appetite for knowledge, he intends to enter a finance masters program where he can further his studies of capital markets. Oyindoye is heavily involved in organizing Mac Global events, actives, and meetings. He is determined to make sure all operations run as smoothly as possible all year long. Oyindoye has a real passion for education, he worked a summer as a Mathematics teacher teaching middle school students back in his home country of Nigeria.
